1950 – Emilio Augelli

Apricena Stone has been quarried in this area for a long time.

Extraction activity was committed to diggers or quarrymen, a very widespread job at the time – hard and humble work – carried out by brawny men mostly.

Emilio Augelli started off working as a digger and learnt the tricks of the trade which led him to found his own company during the marvellous economic boom in the 60s.

1960 – Foundation of the company “Emilio Augelli Marmi”

In 1960 Emilio Augelli set up his company at the age of 40.

A company which has dealt with the stone extraction and manufacturing for three generations with its varieties of Fiorito, Biancone, Bronzetto and Serpeggiante produced in the marble basin of Apricena/Poggio Imperiale.

In the 70s it succeeded in growing up its market so much that it became one of the most important European companies in the stony field.

1980 – Transformation and product marketing

In 1980, when Leonardo and Michele bros joined the company, transformation and marketing activities took place with over 200 marble and granite varieties coming from Italy and the rest of the world.

2010 – Purchase of further fields designated as quarries.

In 2010 the third generation of Augelli family entered the firm and they bought extra fields to be used as quarries, extending its extractive surface from 60,000 square metres to over 300,000 estate. They increased and renewed the number of machines as well as they improved production and rooms for the extracted materials storage, due to the increasing demand of international market.

Today – Leading company for production of Apricena Stone

Nowadays it is one the most efficient firms into the production of Apricena Stone – like its marble basin – in its Fiorito, Biancone, Bronzetto and Serpeggiante types.

Over 12,000 cube metres of stone blocks are extracted yearly from our own quarries.

The aim of the company is keeping on enhancing Apricena Stone, which for over 60 years has represented a genuine example of Made in Italy.
